Cite and Release Quarterly Report
SUMMARY:
The Public Safety Committee will be provided with the Cite and Release for the period of July 1, 2020 through September 30, 2020, which represents the first quarter of the second year of the program.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
On July 1, 2019, the San Antonio Police Department, in coordination with the Bexar County District Attorney, implemented an expanded cite and release program for Bexar County residents. As part of the program evaluation process, both the SAPD and Bexar County District Attorney’s Office committed to providing quarterly updates to the Public Safety Committee.
The update will also provide information on the effectiveness of the program in allowing the Department to achieve its objective of enhancing officer availability throughout the city.
