Board Appointments
SUMMARY:
Appointing the following Board, Commission and Committee appointees for the remainder of an unexpired term of office to expire May 31, 2021.
A) Appointing Carla Walker (D2) to the Parks and Recreation Board.
B) Appointing Kaitlyn Lomas (D4) to the San Antonio Youth Commission.
C) Appointing Bertram Pickell (D6) to the City/County Joint Commission on Elderly Affairs.
D) Appointing Mario Robledo (D6) to the Transportation Advisory Board.
E) Appointing Christine Burke and reappointing Sylvia Lopez Gaona and Christopher Rosas as At-Large Citizen Representatives to the San Antonio Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors
F) Appointing Louis Escareno (Small Business Representative), John Patrick Hernden (Real Estate Developer), Raquel Zapata (Community At-Large Representative) and Shawn “Rod” McSherry (UTSA Representative) to the Westside Development Corporation Board of Directors for an unexpired term of office to end December 3, 2022.
G) Appointing Meredith Siegel and Samer Dessouky and reappointing Julia Carrillo, Matthew Proffitt, and George Peck to the Planning Commission for the remainder of unexpired terms ending October 6, 2022.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Applications for Board Appointments were submitted to the Office of the City Clerk who coordinated review of the applications with the pertinent City Departments and the City Attorney’s Office. Applications from qualified applicants for Council District Representatives were forwarded to the respective City Council Offices for review and consideration. A memorandum was submitted to the Office of the City Clerk by the Mayor or Councilmember designating an appointee for processing. Applications from qualified applicants for At-Large Representatives were forwarded to the designated Council Committee for review and consideration with recommendations to be considered by the full Council.
ISSUE:
Board Appointments require full City Council approval.
ALTERNATIVES:
The Office of the City Clerk will continue to promote vacancies.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact.
RECOMMENDATION:
In order to proceed with the direction of the City Council, the Office of the City Clerk recommends approval of the Board Appointments.
