Board Appointments
SUMMARY:
A) Appointing Guadalupe G. Ochoa (District 5) and reappointing Paul C. Stahl (District 7) to the San Antonio Public Library Board of Trustees for the remainder of unexpired terms of office to expire September 30, 2014.
B) Reappointing Anne C. Larme (District 1) and Donna Jean McBee (District 3) to the Disability Access Advisory Committee for the remainder of unexpired terms of office to expire May 31, 2015.
C) Appointing Michael (Alex) Nava (Mayoral), Dan Weingart (District 8) and Glenn MacTaggart (District 10) to the Port Authority of San Antonio effective December 1, 2013 for a term of office to expire November 30, 2015.
D) Appointing Adriel Alvarez (District 5) to the San Antonio Youth Commission for the remainder of an unexpired term of office to expire May 31, 2015.
E) Appointing Virginia M. Brown (District 6) to the Animal Care Services Advisory Board for the remainder of an unexpired term of office to expire May 31, 2015.
F) Reappointing Kristin N. Sramek (District 6) and Appointing Elizabeth Riojas (District 5) to the Citizens' Environmental Advisory Committee for the remainder of unexpired terms of office to expire May 31, 2015.
G) Reappointing Christopher R. Martinez (District 6) to the Zoning Commission for the remainder of an unexpired term of office to expire May 31, 2015.
H) Appointing Linda M. Jackson (District 6) to the Ethics Review Board for the remainder of an unexpired term of office to expire May 31, 2015.
I) Appointing Mark Potter (District 5) to the Building Standards Board for the remainder of an unexpired term of office to expire May 31, 2015.
J) Reappointing Andrew M. Anguiano (District 3) to the Port Authority of San Antonio for the remainder of an unexpired term of office to expire May 31, 2015.
K) Appointing John W. Salmons, Jr. (District 6) to the San Antonio Housing Trust for the remainder of an unexpired term of office to expire May 31, 2015.
L) Appointing Lester Bryant to the Goal Setting Committees for the remainder of an unexpired term of office to expire May 31, 2015.
M) Consideration of applicants for two (2) At-Large slots to the Building Standards Board
N) Consideration of Appointments to the Planning Commission (4 slots).
O) Consideration of Applicants to the Building-Related and Fire Codes Appeals Advisory Board - 16 Primary At-Large Positions.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Applications for District Boards were submitted to the Office of the City Clerk who coordinated review of the applications with the pertinent City Departments and the City Attorney's Office. Qualified applications were forwarded to the respective City Council Offices for their review. A memorandum designating the Councilmember's appointee was submitted to the Office of the City Clerk for processing.
The Economic and Community Development Council Committee will meet on November 5, 2013 to review and recommend one appointment to the Goal Setting Committees.
The Quality of Life Council Committee will meet on November 19, 2013 to review and recommend two appointments to the Building Standards Board
The Infrastructure and Growth Council Committee will meet on November 20, 2013 to review and recommend appointments to the Planning Commission and the Building-Related and Fire Code Appeals Advisory Board - Primary and Alternate At-Large Positions.
ISSUE:
Board appointments require full City Council approval
ALTERNATIVES:
The Office of the City Clerk will continue to advertise vacancies.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact.
RECOMMENDATION:
In order to proceed with the direction of the City Council, the Office of the City Clerk recommends approval of the Board Appointments.
