SUBJECT:

Consideration of Applicants to San Antonio Economic Development Corporation

 

 

SUMMARY:

 

Mayor Nirenberg established the San Antonio Economic Development Corporation (SAEDC) Applicant Review Committee to address the unprecedented 40 plus applications.  The Committee recommended nine (9) Applicants to the Economic and Workforce Development Council Committee for interviews.  There are three (3) available slots to fill.  Applicants Juan Landa and Judy Trevino withdrew from consideration leaving seven (7) Applicants to interview.  The following applicants were recommended:

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The Corporation consists of the Mayor, Chair of Economic and Workforce Development Council Committee, Chair of Transportation, Council Committee, and City Manager, who serve until a successor is named, and three (3) At-Large Citizens.

 

The Corporation promotes, assists, and enhances economic development activities for the City.  The Corporation provides an additional tool for investment in Economic Development Projects and also provides funds for future opportunities.

 

ISSUE:

Board appointments require full City Council approval and recommended appointments will be placed on the August 30, 2018 City Council Agenda for approval

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no fiscal impact.

 

RECOMMENDATION:

The Office of the City Clerk recommends approval of the Council Committee’s recommendation for three (3) appointments to the SAEDC.
