This ordinance will Call and Order the General City Election for Mayor and City Council to be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017 and Run-off Election to be held on Saturday, June 10, 2017, if necessary.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Elections ordered are conducted in accordance with the Voting Rights Act, Texas Election Code, Local Government Code, and all other applicable law.
ISSUE:
This ordinance will Call and Order the General City Election to be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017 and Run-off Election to be held on Saturday, June 10, 2017, if necessary.
ALTERNATIVES:
N/A
FISCAL IMPACT:
The ordinance contracting with the Bexar County Elections Administrator for Election Services will be presented to the Mayor and City Council at a later date in addition to the Early Voting and Election Day Polling Sites. Said contract will denote the final cost of the May 6, 2017 General and Special Bond Election.
The Run-off Election, if necessary, is scheduled for Saturday, June 10, 2017. Funding is appropriated and available in the FY 2017 Municipal Elections General Fund Budget.
RECOMMENDATION:
The Office of the City Clerk, in coordination with the Office of the City Attorney, requests that the City of San Antonio officially order the General Election for Saturday, May 6, 2017 and Run-off Election to be held on Saturday, June 10, 2017, if necessary.
