SUBJECT: Consideration of Nominations to the Building-Related and Fire Codes Appeals and Advisory Board - 2 Primary Members and 5 Alternate Members
SUMMARY:
The Comprehensive Plan City Council Committee will review applications and recommend 2 Primary Members and 5 Alternate Members to the full Council for appointment to the Building-Related and Fire Codes Appeals and Advisory Board. Said applicants are nominated by Industry Associations and the terms of office are for the remainder of the unexpired terms expiring May 31, 2019. Below is a list of the applicants and the categories they represent. As three of the Applicants are not residents of the City of San Antonio, they will require a waiver for appointment.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The Building-Related and Fire Codes Appeals and Advisory Board is comprised of 17 primary members and 17 alternate members that are appointed at-large by the City Council based on the nominations received. Nominations of primary and alternate members for each category are provided by Industry Associations that are affiliated with nationally recognized organizations.
The Board hears and decides on appeals of orders, decisions, or determinations made by the Building Official or the Fire Chief relative to the applications and interpretations of Chapter 10, Chapter 11, and specific Articles in Chapter 28 of the City Code. They shall advise the Building Official or Fire Chief on code-related matters upon request.
ISSUE:
Board appointments require full City Council approval.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact.
RECOMMENDATION:
The Office of the City Clerk recommends approval of the Council Committee’s recommendation. Said item will be submitted for approval by the Council on the October 4, 2018 Meeting.
