SUBJECT:
Reappointment to the CPS Energy Board of Trustees
 
 
SUMMARY:
A Resolution confirming the nomination by the City Public Service (CPS) Energy Board of Trustees:
 
A)      Reappointing Dr. Homer Guevara, Jr. (Southwest Quadrant) as Trustee of the CPS Energy Board for a term of office to expire January 31, 2019.  
 
 
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
At its January 27, 2014 Meeting, the CPS Energy Board approved the reappointment of Dr. Homer Guevara, Jr. as Trustee of the CPS Energy Board representing the Southwest Quadrant.  The current term of office for this position will expire on January 31, 2014.  Dr. Guevara's reappointment will begin February 1, 2014 through January 31, 2019.
 
ISSUE:
Pursuant to Ordinance No. 83050, a nominee for the CPS Energy Board shall be elected by the majority vote of the CPS Energy Board.  The nomination is submitted to the City Council for confirmation.
 
ALTERNATIVES:
In the event no reappointments are made; the current Board Members continue to serve on a hold-over status.
 
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact.
 
RECOMMENDATION:
The CPS Board recommends the reappointment of Dr. Homer Guevara, Jr. as a Trustee to the CPS Board representing the Southwest Quadrant.  The reappointment of Dr. Homer Guevara, Jr. has been coordinated with the CPS Energy Board of Trustees, the Office of the City Attorney, and the Public Utilities Department.  The Office of the City Clerk recommends approval.
