Contract Award: Olmos Basin Park Improvements Project


SUMMARY:
An ordinance accepting the lowest responsive bid and awarding a construction contract in the amount of $350,000.00, to Consolidated Installation Support, LLC., for construction of the Olmos Basin Park Improvements Project, a 2012-2017 Bond-funded Project, located in Council District 1.


BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Project Background
On May 12, 2012, San Antonio voters approved the 2012-2017 Bond Program, consisting of five propositions totaling $596 Million. The Bond Program funds will be used on various capital improvement projects to address community infrastructure needs and improve the overall quality of life in San Antonio. As part of that Program, funds in the total amount of $500,000.00 in Parks, Recreation and Open Space Improvements Bond funds were approved for park improvements at Olmos Basin Park, north of Jackson Keller and west of McCullough Avenue, located in Council District 1. The balance of the Project funds approved by voters will be used for design services, environmental services, advertising and project management.

This Project provides for expansion of the existing parking lot and a 2,870 linear feet of new concrete walking trail with lighting to replace the existing cement stabilized base trail. Project construction is anticipated to begin December 2014 and estimated to be completed by July 2015.

Coordination with Parks and Recreation Department will be made to insure accommodations are made to keep the facility accessible to patrons and residents during construction.
