Contract Award: Parking Trailblazing Signage System Project

SUMMARY:
An ordinance authorizing the execution of a construction contract in an amount not to exceed $370,453.00, authorized payable to Walton Enterprises, Ltd. dba Walton Signage, for the Parking Trailblazing Signage System, a parking improvement and contingency fund Project located in Council District 1.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Project Background
The Downtown Trailblazing Parking Master Plan was a recommendation of the San Antonio Downtown Parking Study, which developed a set of goals and objectives the parking system would achieve to promote downtown economic development and enhanced customer service. The first two (2) components of the Master Plan have been completed. This Project is in the final phase of the 2008 Downtown Trailblazing Parking Master Plan. The Master Plan design intent is to upgrade the existing off-street parking revenue control system, on-street parking meters system and prepare a trailblazing master plan, in support of all downtown parking facilities. The parking revenue control system and meters portion of the plan have been completed. The final remaining component of the Master Plan is the Trailblazing Signage portion which is to be completed by August 2015.

The signage design concept for the Trailblazing Signage System includes a quatrefoil and color combination selection that was a collaborative effort among the City design team, the City Manager's Office, Center City Development Office, Transportation and Capital Improvements, HDRC, Downtown Alliance, Centro Partnership, Communication and Public Affairs within the City that oversee such selection and approval.
