SUMMARY:
An Ordinance authorizing the execution of a contract with Morning Pride Manufacturing, LLC, d/b/a Honeywell First Responder Products, for the purchase, cleaning, and repair of firefighting bunker gear for the San Antonio Fire Department in an estimated annual amount of $500,000.00. The initial term is February 1, 2014 through September 30, 2018 with 2, 1 year renewal options. Funding is available from the Fire Department's FY2014 Adopted General Fund Operating Budget.




BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Submitted for City Council consideration and action is the contract with Morning Pride Manufacturing, LLC, d/b/a Honeywell First Responder Products. This contract will establish a reliable source for the supply of Personal Protective Clothing consisting of a bunker coat, bunker pants, bunker boots, suspenders and a hood. Bunker gear is worn by firefighting personnel to provide protection during structural firefighting operations or other situations where there is a threat of fire. Bunker gear is essential to protect firefighters when physical hazards are likely to be encountered.

This contract also provides for maintenance, repair and cleaning of Personal Protective Clothing in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations through a centrally located service facility. Additionally, this contract requires that vendor maintain a computerized inventory system to track and maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, cleaning and placements of Personal Protective Clothing into the general, loaner or re-issuance pool.
