SUBJECT:

Salary adjustments for certain City Council Appointees


SUMMARY:

This item establishes specific pay adjustments for the City Auditor, City Clerk and Presiding Judge of the Municipal Courts of San Antonio.


BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Appropriations for anticipated pay adjustments for City Council Appointees including the City Auditor, City Clerk and Presiding Judge of the Municipal Courts of San Antonio were included in the FY2017 Budget Ordinance. This item provides for pay adjustments to certain City Council Appointees in the following manner.

City Auditor
The City Council Audit Committee, at a meeting on February 21, 2017, evaluated the performance of the City Auditor as required by the provisions of Ordinance 2008-11-20-1015. Also in accordance with that Ordinance, a report of the evaluation was reported to the full City Council on March 8, 2017. Based on performance, City Council now wishes to provide for a 4% pay adjustment to the salary of the City Auditor for FY2017.

City Clerk
City Council reviewed the performance of the City Clerk. Based on performance, City Council now wishes to provide for a 4% pay adjustment to the salary of the City Clerk for FY2017.

Presiding Judge of the Municipal Courts
City Council reviewed the performance of the Presiding Judge of the Municipal Courts. Based on performance, City Council now wishes to provide for a $10,000 pay adjustment to the salary of the Presiding Judge of the Municipal Courts for FY2017.



ISSUE:

City Council sets salaries and benefits for City Council Appointees by ordinance.


ALTERNATIVES:

City Council has discussed alternatives and finds it appropriate to provide these performance pay adjustments.


FISCAL IMPACT:

Funds are included in the FY 2017 General Fund Adopted Budget for Performance Pay salary adjustments.
