BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Submitted for City Council consideration and action is the attached bid tabulation of three competitive bids to provide four gasoline powered light duty trucks which are additions to the City's fleet for a total cost of $76,916.00.

The vehicles will be used to support the Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) inspectors for the annual inspections at various locations throughout the city. These vehicles will also be used to transport the inspectors to a HAZMAT scene in emergency situations.

An Invitation for Bid was issued for fire prevention administrative vehicles and three bids were received. Grande Truck Center is recommended for award in accordance with the Local Preference Program (LPP). Grande Truck Center, a local bidder, submitted a bid within 3% of the non-local bidders. The Local Preference Program award will result in an additional cost to the City of $952.60.

The administrative vehicles are additional units to the City's fleet and will be placed in the City's Equipment Renewal and Replacement Fund.

Alternative Fuels:
These vehicles could not be acquired as propane powered because the particular vehicles were not available in the Liquefied Petroleum Gas configuration or because the specific operational requirements of the vehicles precluded this option.
