2017 - 2022 Bond Program Implementation Strategy and Schedule
SUMMARY:
This is an informational briefing to City Council on the proposed implementation strategy for the proposed 2017 - 2022 Bond Program resulting from voter approval of all six propositions on May 6, 2017. The briefing will provide an overview of the approved Bond Program as well as a review of the proposed program delivery approach, financial plan and schedule.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
On May 6, 2017, an election was held for the City's 2017 - 2022 Bond Program consisting of six propositions totaling $850 Million. The program includes 180 projects designed to improve and enhance existing, as well as acquire or construct, new local streets, bridges, sidewalks, drainage facilities, parks, libraries, neighborhoods and other facilities. All areas of San Antonio will benefit from projects in the bond program. Many projects address infrastructure needs in a specific area while several projects have a regional or citywide benefit for all residents. The following provides a general description of each of the six Propositions in the Bond Program highlighting the number of projects in each and the total amount of Bond Funds:
Proposition 1: Streets, Bridges & Sidewalk Improvements 64 Projects $445,263,000
Funds from this proposition will be used to provide public improvements to streets, bridges, and sidewalks, as well as other improvements necessary or related to, including, but not limited to: bicycle lanes, landscaping, relocation of utilities, street lighting, related drainage, technology improvements and signage. This proposition also provides for the acquisition of lands and rights of way necessary for such purposes.
