City Council Project Funds Allocation (CCPF)
SUMMARY:
This ordinance awards a CCPF grant allocation to The Magik Theatre in an amount not to exceed $19,436.30 in support of their Tickets to Literacy program.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The City Council Office began administration of the City Council Project Fund in 2012. At that time, several improvements to the program were made including; implementation of streamlined application (online), an election year moratorium, and City Council approval allocations exceeding $10,000 to an applicant for the same program, activity, events, good or service.
This ordinance awards a CCPF grant allocation to The Magik Theatre in an amount not to exceed $19,436.30 in support of their Tickets to Literacy program.
ISSUE:
Tickets to Literacy was created in 1996 to help make it possible for any child in San Antonio to enjoy the thrill and educational benefit of attending a theatrical performance. Last school year, almost 8,000 children were able to attend the Theatre for free. The Magik Theatre will produce seven full-scale shows for its home stage and four to touring the schools. This support will assist in providing 4,000 children access to an educational, cultural and artistic experience that is unique in this community.
ALTERNATIVES:
City Council could choose not to approve this allocation.

This allocation is made possible through CCPF contributions made by following City Council Districts:
