City Council Project Fund (CCPF) Allocations
SUMMARY:
An ordinance awarding City Council Project Funds in the amount of $18,000 for the purchase of radar guns and speed trailers to be used in Council District 10, $15,000 to various organizations in support of Mayor Castro's Light Up Downtown Holiday Contest, and $10,000 for the Pathways to Leadership Scholarship Fund.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
City Council approved the repeal of the Human Development Services Fund (HDSF) and established the City Council Project Funds (CCPF) along with improvements to the program in December 2011.
City Council approval is required for allocations exceeding $10,000 to an applicant for the same program, activity, events, good or service. This ordinance provides for three separate CCPF awards - Citizens on Patrol, the Mayor's Light Up Downtown Holiday Contest and the Mayor's Pathways to Leadership Scholarship Fund.
City Council District 10 is approving a CCPF award for the purchase of radar guns and speed radar trailers in an amount not to exceed $18,000 from the District 10 CCPF budget to address school zone and speeding traffic issues. The radar guns and speed radar trailers will be utilized in coordination with Citizens on Patrol (COP) and the North SAFFE Unit of SAPD to promote driving speed awareness on busy residential roads that have a history of speeding.
The Mayor's Office is approving a CCPF award for Mayor Castro's Light Up Downtown Holiday Contest in an amount not to exceed $15,000. The Contest encourages downtown properties, businesses, and non-profit organizations to participate in a creative holiday light display which runs from November 29th through December 19, 2013.
