Consideration of Applicants to the Airport Advisory Commission (10 slots)
SUMMARY:
The Economic and Community Development City Council Committee will review and recommend applicants for ten (10) available slots to the Airport Advisory Commission. The terms have expired for members in the following categories: two (2) Aviation Industry; two (2) Business Community; three (3) Community - to include representatives from neighborhood associations from neighborhoods located near the Airport, each representing a different association; one (1) Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Representative; one (1) Taxicab Industry; and one (1) Travel and Tourism Industry. The applicants are listed below by the categories they qualify for. Applicants who are not residents of the City of San Antonio will require a waiver for appointment.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The Airport Advisory Commission (AAC) is comprised of 19 members appointed by City Council at-large for staggered two-year terms. three (3) Aviation industry to include, but not limited to, representatives from the Military, Commercial Airlines, National Air Transportation Association, National Business Aircraft Association, Aircraft Manufacturers, Private Aircraft Pilots, and Airline Pilots Association; six (6) Community Representatives to include a minimum of four (4) neighborhood associations from neighborhoods located near the Airport, each representing a different association; two (2) Travel and Tourism Industry Representatives; four (4) Business Community Representatives to include one (1) local Chamber of Commerce representative; one (1) Taxi Cab Industry Representative; one (1) Airport Business - Lessee; one (1) Alamo Area Council of Governments (AACOG) Representative; and one (1) Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Representative.
ISSUE:
Board appointments require full City Council approval.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact.
RECOMMENDATION:
The Office of the City Clerk recommends approval of the Council Committee's decision and that recommendations for ten (10) members to the Airport Advisory Commission be submitted to the full City Council Meeting on April 17, 2014.
