Five-Year License Agreement with Alamo Kiwanis Charities, Inc. for use of Arneson River Theater
SUMMARY:
This ordinance authorizes a five-year license agreement with Alamo Kiwanis Charities, Inc. (Alamo Kiwanis) for use of the Arneson River Theater for its annual presentation of "Fiesta Noche del Rio" during Spring/Summer 2014 - Spring/Summer 2018. The total value of the license agreement is $64,500.00 and funds will be deposited into the General Fund.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Since 1957, the City of San Antonio has licensed the Arneson River Theater to the Alamo Kiwanis for its annual presentation of "Fiesta Noche Del Rio". This outdoor production on the River Walk has become a summertime tradition entertaining more than one million visitors from around the world. In addition to being a popular summer attraction, "Fiesta Noche Del Rio" is one of the Alamo Kiwanis's major fundraising events having raised nearly $2.5 million for San Antonio children's charities since its inception.
The Alamo Kiwanis' most recent license agreement expired August 2013. City staff is recommending that a new five-year license agreement be authorized in order to allow the Alamo Kiwanis to continue to use the Arneson River Theater.

The City may elect not to authorize this License Agreement. In doing so, the Alamo Kiwanis would have to either enter into a temporary license agreement for continued use of the Arneson River Theater or find an alternate venue for their production.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Under the terms of the license agreement the Alamo Kiwanis will pay an annual license fee, as listed below in consideration for use of the Arneson River Theater.
