SUMMARY:

This ordinance authorizes a contract with Port Enterprises for an amount of $291,885.00 for roof replacement at the Woodlawn Lake Park Gym and funded from the Parks and Recreation deferred maintenance project, located in Council District 7.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The Woodlawn Lake Park is a popular destination in San Antonio. The gym, located at 219 Alexander Avenue, is utilized for reservations and programming year round. This item for consideration is for the bid submitted by Port Enterprises for a base bid amount of $233,029.00 and additive alternates 1, 2 and 4 which are to pressure wash the gym and restroom buildings and re-roof the restroom building for a total contract amount of $291,885.00. Beatty Palmer Architects provided the design for the roof replacement for this project.

The Request for Low Qualified Bids was advertised the first and second week of April 2014 in the Hart Beat, the Texas Electronic State Business Daily, the City's website, and announced on the City's public access station TVSA. On April 29, 2014 two bids were received. After reviewing the bidders' qualifications, Port Enterprises, Ltd. was selected with the lowest qualified bid. A standard construction contract will be executed.
