SUMMARY:
 
Mayor Taylor and Committee Chair Ron Nirenberg will review the roles and responsibilities of the newly convened Comprehensive Planning Council Committee, an Advisory Board, and a Citizens Institute.
 
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
 
On August 1, 2014, Mayor Ivy Taylor announced the creation of the Comprehensive Planning Committee.
 
ISSUE:
 
Mayor Taylor and Committee Chair Ron Nirenberg will review and discuss with the entire Committee the roles and responsibilities of this newly convened Council Committee.  The Comprehensive Planning Committee (CPC) is responsible for establishing and overseeing a community-based process to guide the delivery and implementation of a Comprehensive Plan for the City of San Antonio.  This process shall encompass citizen education and, rely on the development of citizen leaders, and foster collaboration with a broad range of stakeholder groups through the creation of a advisory board.  The CPC also is charged with identifying existing or proposed City projects, plans, and/or initiatives that shall be coordinated and aligned with the Comprehensive Plan.
 
The roles and responsibilities of the Comprehensive Plan Advisory Board and the Citizens Planning Institute also will be reviewed and discussed by the Committee.
