SUMMARY:

An ordinance for the construction of Ingram Road from Culebra to Mabe, accepting the lowest responsive bid and awarding a construction contract, including an additive alternate, in the amount of $4,806,946.35, authorized payable to Capital Excavation Company, a voter approved 2012-2017 Bond-funded Project, located in Council District 6. Of this amount, $348,355.00 will be reimbursed by San Antonio Water Systems (SAWS).

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Project Background
The 2012-2017 General Obligation Bond Program authorized $7,814,000.00 for funding of Ingram Road, Culebra to Mabe, and of that, $4,806,946.35 will be used for construction. The balance of the Project funds approved by voters is used for design services, environmental services, advertising, property acquisition and project management.

This project provides for the reconstruction and widening of approximately one half mile of Ingram Road from Culebra to Mabe to four 11-foot lanes, including 4 foot concrete raised median, curbs, sidewalks, driveway approaches, and approximately 1,700 linear feet of dedicated bicycle lanes from Mabe to Culebra providing connectivity to existing bicycle lanes along Culebra Rd. In addition traffic and drainage improvements will be done with this project.

This project ties into the Ingram Road Low Water Crossing Project completed in May 2012 by Bexar County in which a 1,716 foot bridge was built and the roadway was increased to 4 lanes.

Coordination with the businesses and adjacent apartment complexes will be made to ensure accommodations are in place to maintain accessibility during construction.
