SUMMARY:

An ordinance for the Police Academy Pistol Range Facility authorizing the execution of a task order to a Job Order Contract to Con-Cor, Inc., for facility improvements in an amount not to exceed $188,823.13, a 2015 Certificates of Obligation-funded Project, located in Council District 3.


BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Project Background

As part of the FY 2015 budget, citywide facility needs will be addressed by the Deferred Maintenance Program, including improvements to the Police Academy Pistol Range facility.

This project provides for improvements to the pistol firing range bays located in two separate building at the Police Academy facility. The proposed improvements are removal and replacement of all light fixtures in the 6 pistol firing range bays located at the Police Academy Pistol Range facility in two separate buildings. In addition, the plywood located in each pistol firing range bay will be removed, replaced and painted. The plywood is used to prevent bullets from leaving the pistol range firing bay area and to absorb sound.

Only one pistol firing range bay will be renovated at a time in an effort to minimize the disruption to Police Department personnel's training schedule. Project construction is anticipated to begin in January 2015 and is anticipated to be completed by April 2015.

Procurement of Services

The Project was selected to utilize the Job Order Contracting (JOC), an alternative Project delivery method through which ten contractors were approved through Ordinance 2011-01-20-0053 by City Council on January 20, 2011.
