SUBJECT: Alamodome Renovation Project Update

SUMMARY:
Briefing on the Alamodome Renovation Project. This briefing will provide an update on the project status, project schedule, major timelines, and the proposed processes moving forward.

BACKGROUND  INFORMATION:
Opened in May of 1993, the Alamodome is owned and operated by the City of San Antonio and has hosted events for the NBA World Champion San Antonio Spurs, the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) Roadrunners Football Program, the Annual Alamo Bowl Football Game, NCAA Basketball and Volleyball Tournament games, as well as the Men's and Women's  Final Four Basketball Championship.

As the result of a 2012 feasibility study to determine a conceptual design to modernize and upgrade the facility with the latest amenities, the study identified renovations within the Alamodome which would allow the complex to continue to serve as a choice venue for future national events. The identified renovations allow for the Alamodome to become a part of an integrated "convention package" along with the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center.

In November of 2014, the NCAA selected the City of San Antonio to host the NCAA Men's College Basketball Final 4 Tournament in 2018 at the Alamodome. A contributing factor of the City winning the bid relied on the integrated nature of the Alamodome and Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, along with the City's commitment to have the Alamodome's renovations substantially complete by May 30, 2017.

The project includes the demolition and expansion of the Alamodome's north plaza, expansion of the concourses at each level on the east and west sides of the facility, renovation of locker rooms and bathrooms, additional court lighting and IT upgrades to include scoreboards, ribbon boards and an associated control room as well as seats at the south end zone of the club level, and an optional south eyebrow hospitality club.  Construction schedule and activities shall be coordinated to work around the daily Alamodome operations with both planned and future events taking place in the facility.

Design has begun and construction anticipated beginning in Fall of 2015 with anticipated completion by May 2017, with exception of the south loading dock expansion, which requires substantial completion on or before November 1, 2017.  Final completion will occur by November 30, 2017.
