BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Plan Element Working Groups
The Plan Element Working Groups (Working Groups) are comprised of industry and community leaders drawn from the various organizations of the Comprehensive Plan Advisory Group and supplemented by subject matter experts identified by the planning team and their partners. These working groups and City staff will develop a series of topical policy papers that include assets, opportunities, and challenges, and that will be utilized in the formation of the City's three growth-related plans. These papers will be a key step in the planning process and will provide the basis for specific policy recommendations. The Working Groups will each have a representative who serves on the Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee.
ISSUE:
Staff will provide the Comprehensive Planning Committee a briefing on the calendar and logistics for the future Plan Element Working Groups; and briefing on the March 24, 2015 Plan Element Working Groups Kick-Off meeting.
Approximately 120 technical experts representing organizations across the city attended the March 24, 2015 Plan Element Working Groups Kick-Off meeting. Mayor Taylor and Councilman Nirenberg also attended the Kick-Off meeting. This first meeting brought all of the Working Group participants together for an introduction and "big picture" discussion of the City's greatest assets and challenges, both now and in the future.
