SUMMARY:

This briefing will allow Metro Health staff to update members of the Intergovernmental Relations (IGR) Council Committee on the status of an amendment to the department's Interlocal Agreement with the Bexar County Hospital District, d/b/a University Health System.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Since 1965, Bexar County, and later UHS, has contracted with the City of San Antonio for Metro Health to provide certain public health services to residents of unincorporated Bexar County. Through this agreement, Metro Health agrees to have available for and furnish to residents of unincorporated Bexar County certain emergency preparedness and population based public health services to include dental screening and treatment, disease control, tuberculosis control, reportable disease surveillance and investigation, emergency preparedness and response, and other health education programs.

The fees charged for these services are based upon a percentage of services provided to unincorporated County residents and applies to only the general fund base budgets for each of the corresponding activities. Metro Health has negotiated an amendment to the Interlocal Agreement with UHS to extend the term and authorize the acceptance of compensation from UHS in the amount of $190,768.08 for services provided during the period April 1, 2015 through March 31, 2016 with the option to renew for an additional one year term.
