SUMMARY:
Barrio Barista Coffeehouse has applied for a $5,000 grant for façade improvement. The company owned by Mr. Gilbert De Hoyos is a community based coffee house serving St. Mary's University students as a place to study, hosting an art gallery made up of local artists, and hosts poetry readings. The business is located at 3735 Culebra Rd, San Antonio, TX 78228.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
WDC staff has reviewed the application that was received on March 19, 2015.
Barrio Baristas Coffeehouse is proposing to use the grant for façade improvements consisting of the building of an outdoor patio and canopy to expand business. The total project cost is $15,000. Evidence of matching dollars has been provided to the WDC.
Upon review of the proposed project and its construction location at Barrio Barista Coffeehouse, the patio and canopy will need to be built across two existing lots both owned by Mr. De Hoyos. It will be necessary for a replat of the property to take place prior to construction. Mr. De Hoyos has applied for the fee waiver with the city as the first step in the replat process.
The WDC Project Committee reviewed the application and recommended forwarding to the WDC Board of Directors for review and approval.
