Transportation Contract Amendment
SUMMARY:
This item requests Board consideration to amend the current contract for transportation services for Pre-K 4 SA students with Star Shuttle Inc. for a term ending on June 30, 2018 to increase the total value of the contract from $2.1 million to $4.4 million reflecting continued services from June 1, 2013 until June 30, 2018.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
On June 4, 2013, the Board approved an agreement with Star Shuttle, Inc. to provide transportation services for Pre-K 4 SA. The contract was set to an amount not to exceed $2.1 million for an initial two-year term and three one-year renewal options. On November 4, 2014, the Board approved to exercise the first renewal option to extend the contract until May 31, 2016.
ISSUE:
Pre-K 4 SA requests Board consideration for Pre-K 4 SA staff to exercise a two-year renewal for the current contract with Star Shuttle Inc. to extend the contract term to last until June 30, 2018. This action will exercise the two remaining renewal options. Following the issuance of the renewal letter, the Pre-K 4 SA CEO and staff will coordinate to amend the current contract as necessary to best meet the needs of the program. Pre-K 4 SA is also requesting to increase the total value of the contract from $2.1 million to $4.4 million.
ALTERNATIVES:
If the Board does not approve for Pre-K 4 SA to amend the current contract with Star Shuttle, Inc., Pre-K 4 SA would need to issue an RFP to seek a new provider of transportation services.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds are budgeted and available in the FY 2016 Pre-K 4 SA Operating Fund as approved by the Pre-K 4 SA Board of Directors. Future budget dollars for the Star Shuttle Inc. contract are contingent on approval by the Pre-K 4 SA Board of Directors in future years.
