Briefing on the September 22 through September 24 Technical Working Group meetings.

SUMMARY:

A briefing to provide an update on the objectives for the fourth series of Technical Working Group meetings that will occur between September 22 and 24.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The Technical Working Groups (Working Groups) are comprised of technical experts nominated by the Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee, City Council and City Staff.

The Comprehensive Plan consultant team (MIG) has prepared an Existing Conditions Report to understand and document current conditions, issues, and opportunities, providing a “snapshot” of the City, that will serve as a baseline for analysis informing the updated Comprehensive Plan as well as measuring progress and change after the Plan’s adoption. The existing conditions report can be found on the SA Tomorrow Comprehensive Plan Website at www.sacompplan.com/ under the Planning Studies + Reports tab. The full City Council has also received a hard copy of the report.

The Working Groups will provide input on a series of topical policy papers that address key city assets, opportunities, and challenges. The policy papers will be utilized in the development of the City’s three growth-related plans.  The policy papers are a key step in the planning process and provide the basis for specific policy recommendations. The papers also include input received from previous community outreach efforts. The nine Working Group Chairs also serve on the Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee.
