SUBJECT: Elmendorf Lake Public Art Project

ACTION TYPE: Artist Selection

SUMMARY:
This item is to approve the artist recommendation for 2012-2017 Bond project for the District 5 Elmendorf Lake. Artist recommendation: pre-qualified artist team David Dahlquist.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
As the result of the City of San Antonio's 2012-2017 Bond Program, the Elmendorf Lake in District 5 has been identified as a public art opportunity. In September PASA established an artist selection panel of four panelists: Bill Pennell, COSA Parks and Recreation Department; Deborah Vasquez, District 5 art professional; Abigail Rodriguez, Westside Creeks Restoration Oversight Committee, District 5; Susan Powers, community representative, District 5, Linear Creeks Board Member 2013-2015; and Ernesto Olivo, San Antonio Arts Commission.

The artist selection panel convened to review the public art opportunity and artist qualifications, evaluated and scored a shortlist of artists, reviewed and discussed finalists, and selected two artists to interview. On September 25, 2015 the artist selection panel interviewed two artists and recommended pre-qualified artist David Dahlquist for the District 5 Elmendorf Lake public art opportunity.
