Follow-up briefing on boards and commissions rules, procedures, and ethics

 

 

SUMMARY:

 

This item will include a follow-up briefing on boards and commissions rules, procedures, and ethics led by staff from the Office of the City Attorney and the Office of the City Auditor.

 

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

 

On May 14, 2015 City Council approved a resolution accepting the Mayor’s Task Force on Preserving Dynamic and Diverse Neighborhoods Report and an ordinance establishing the San Antonio Housing Commission to Protect and Preserve Dynamic and Diverse Neighborhoods.  The Commission is an advisory board to the City Council.

 

A briefing on boards and commissions rules, procedures, and ethics was provided at the September 22, 2015 Commission meeting.  Outstanding questions from this initial briefing that will be addressed during this item.

 

 

 

ISSUE:

 

Camila Kunau, from the Office of the City Attorney, will provide a follow-up briefing on open meetings, the Public Information Act, and Board and Commission rules.  Marc Druck, the Compliance Auditor, who provides guidance to city officials, employees, and officers regarding the City’s Ethics Code, will provide a follow-up briefing on ethics.

RECOMMENDATION:

 

Staff recommends that a follow-up briefing on boards and commissions rules, procedures, and ethics be provided to the Commission to address outstanding questions from the initial briefing provided at the September 22, 2015 Commission meeting.
