A briefing on incorporating the City's Annexation Program into the SA Tomorrow planning process.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
On October 21, 2015, staff announced changes to the limited purpose annexation schedule to align City Council discussion with a review of the City’s SA Tomorrow Comprehensive Plan. The public hearings and council consideration schedule for the three annexation areas of Interstate 10 (East and West) and US Highway 281 will take place in spring 2016 and will coincide with City Council’s consideration of SA Tomorrow’s three growth plans
ISSUE:
This item will provide a staff recommendation on how the City's Annexation Plan will be incorporated into the SA Tomorrow planning process. The City’s current annexation policies will be re-evaluated and reviewed during the SA Tomorrow planning process. The Comprehensive Plan Element Working Group Summit, scheduled on December 4, 2015, will begin the discussion on the existing annexation policies and their validity moving forward. In addition, the implementation of the Annexation Plan will be discussed during the overall implementation discussion of the Comprehensive Plan by the Steering Committee.
