Change Order: 36th Street Phase IIIB (Billy Mitchell to General Hudnell): Drainage Culverts Value Engineering
SUMMARY:
An ordinance for the 36th Street Phase IIIB: Billy Mitchell to General Hudnell, authorizing a change order in the increased amount of $437,768.60 payable to Shannon Monk, an authorized 2012-2017 General Obligation and federally funded project, located in Council District 4.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
This project provides for the reconstruction of the roadway along 36th Street from Billy Mitchell to General Hudnell to include curbs, sidewalks, a shared use path and a drainage channel. Project construction began in August 2015 and is estimated to be completed by December 2016.
Previous Council Action
A previously executed contract with Shannon Monk for the 36th Street Phase IIIB project, from Billy Mitchell to General Hudnell, for $8,078,660.90 was approved by City Council on June 6, 2015, through Ordinance 2015-06-04-0481. No previous Change orders have been authorized for this contract. This change order will increase the contract by $ 437,768.60 to a contract amount of $8,516,429.50.
ISSUE:
This ordinance for the 36th Street Phase IIIB: Billy Mitchell to General Hudnell, authorizes a change order in the increased amount of $437,768.60 payable to Shannon Monk, an authorized 2012-2017 General Obligation and federally funded project, located in Council District 4.
The 36th Street Phase IIIB is the third phase of the 36th Street corridor within the Port Authority of San Antonio property. Due to drainage concerns, a drainage culvert crossing was requested by the Port Authority of San Antonio to be included as part of the construction of the 36th Street Phase IIIB project.
