Briefing on San Antonio Police Department Storefront Locations
SUMMARY:
The San Antonio Police Department currently operates three storefront locations in the City. These facilities are meant to provide a Police Department presence in the neighborhoods and facilitate communication between citizens and the Department.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The San Antonio Police Department currently operates three storefront locations in the City. These facilities staffed and operated by the San Antonio Police Department SAFFE Units. The locations are:
Deco District Storefront - located at 1800 Fredericksburg Road - Opened June 2008 - (Council District 1 and 7/West Patrol SAFFE). This facility is not staffed regularly due to the low level of use by the public. It is primarily used for office space only and infrequent community meetings that utilize the small conference room at the location. When community contacts are made at the Deco Storefront, it is primarily to provide information which is also available via the internet and/or the police substations.
Commerce Street Storefront - located at 4883 West Commerce - Opened March 2009 - (Council District 5/West Patrol SAFFE) - Staffed Monday-Friday 0930-1630, and is closed on City holidays. This Storefront rotates 14 SAFFE Officers through staffing duties with each officer assigned there approximately twice a month. Officers assigned to this Storefront handle walk-ins to include any immediate action that may be required. This location reports approximately 652 citizen walk-ins and approximately 84 reports taken per year.
