SUMMARY:

This ordinance authorizes a contract with Madden Industrial Craftsmen, Inc. dba Madden Fabrication to provide the Center City Development and Operations Department with a Public Restroom Kiosk for a one-time cost of $97,700.00. Funding is available from the FY2016 Capital Improvement Budget and the General Fund.



BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Submitted for Council consideration and action is the offer submitted by Madden Industrial Craftsmen, Inc. dba Madden Fabrication to provide the Center City Development and Operations Department with a public restroom kiosk for a total one-time cost of $97,700.00.

Currently, the Center City Development Operations Department manages two downtown public restroom facilities located on the River Walk by the Historia Ticket Booth and Centro Information. This public restroom kiosk will provide an additional restroom for the downtown area for City of San Antonio residents and tourists.



ISSUE:

This contract will provide a public restroom kiosk for Center City Development and Operations Department. The kiosk consists of a single occupant public toilet manufactured from carbon steel posts and stainless steel panels equipped with a simple to operate, sturdy flush toilet designed for use in public areas. The kiosk includes louvers, doors, roof, a 40W heat trace; a heating wire that wraps around the plumbing to keep the plumbing from freezing, interior and exterior LED lighting with photo eye and motion sensor control which will turn on lights inside and outside the kiosk; as well as an occupancy counter connected to a motion sensor that will keep count of usage. Additionally the kiosk includes a hand wash basin located on the outside of the restroom.
