Briefing and Discussion on the March Housing Commission Subcommittee Meetings

 

 

SUMMARY:

 

Briefing and Discussion on the Housing Bond and Funding, Policy and Infrastructure, and Resident Retention Marcy Subcommittee meetings.

 

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

 

On October 27, 2015 the Housing Commission established three subcommittees that will meet monthly as needed. These subcommittees were formed to more thoroughly explore and develop the recommendations included in the Mayor’s Task Force Report and report back to the full Commission. The recommendations from the Mayor’s Task Force were divided into the following categories:

 

                     Recommendations that do not require subcommittee discussion

                     Recommendations assigned to the Housing Bond and Funding Subcommittee

                     Recommendations assigned to the Policy and Infrastructure Subcommittee

                     Recommendations assigned to the Resident Retention Subcommittee

 

The Housing Bond and Funding Subcommittee includes seven (7) members from the Housing Commission: Jennifer Gonzalez - Chair, Gil Piette - Vice Chair, Debra Guerrero, Jackie Gorman, Richard Milk, Rod Radle, and Mu Son Chi.

 

The Policy and Infrastructure Subcommittee includes seven (7) members from the Housing Commission: Jennifer Gonzalez - Chair, Jim Bailey - Vice Chair, Carol Rodriguez, Noah Garcia, Natalie Griffith, Rod Radle, and Mu Son Chi.

 

The Resident Retention Subcommittee includes six (6) members from the Housing Commission: Jennifer Gonzalez - Chair, Natalie Griffith - Vice Chair, Jackie Gorman, Jim Bailey, Carol Rodriguez, and Richard Milk.

 

Subcommittee meetings are held in between Commission meetings, and take place as follows:

ISSUE:

 

The Housing Bond and Funding Subcommittee met on March 9, 2016 to consider the following items:

                     Continuation of Subcommittee Facilitated Discussion on Framework for a Potential Affordable Housing Bond

 

The Policy & Infrastructure Subcommittee met on March 8, 2016 to consider the following items:

                     Continuation of Subcommittee Facilitated Discussion on Framework for a Policy and Program Assessment

                     Subcommittee Facilitated Discussion on Inclusionary Housing Best Practices and Policy Options

 

The Resident Retention Subcommittee met on March 15, 2016 to consider the following items:

                     Continuation of Subcommittee Facilitated Discussion on Potential Policies for the Protection of Existing Mobile/ Manufactured Home Communities and Residents

 

Staff will provide a briefing on the outcomes from the three (3) subcommittee meetings.  The briefing will be followed by Commission discussion.  The draft minutes from the Subcommittee meetings are attached for reference purposes.  These minutes have not yet been approved by the respective Subcommittees.
