Briefing on SA Tomorrow Multimodal Transportation Plan

SUMMARY:

The Transportation and Capital Improvements (TCI) Department will provide a briefing on the Strategic Multi-Modal Transportation Plan.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The creation of the SA Tomorrow Multi-modal Transportation Plan has been underway since the Fall of 2014 and is anticipated to be released to the public for input by the end of April 2016.  Once complete, the Plan will articulate the City’s transportation strategy and serve as a tool that can be used in subsequent years by San Antonio departments and policy makers to analyze annual transportation priorities to best meet overall community short-term and long-term goals.

The Multi-Modal Transportation Plan will become a critical component of the City’s Comprehensive Plan.  The two plan’s efforts have been coordinated in terms of analysis and public outreach.

ISSUE:

This item will provide a briefing by the Transportation and Capital Improvements (TCI) Department on the current Strategic Multi-Modal Transportation Plan.    The briefing will include the Plan’s preliminary recommendations for San Antonio’s transportation future as a result of public dialogue, technical analysis, and long-range travel demand modeling conducted over the past 15 months.  The draft plan will be released to the public for comment and input by the end of April 2016 and the final plan will be considered by City Council at the end of June 2016.
