City Council Project Fund Allocation
SUMMARY:
This ordinance awards a grant allocation to the Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner through the City Council Project Funds Program.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The City Council Project Fund was established in 2012 to provide funding for programs, activities, events, scholarships or services that promote public purposes in 3 categories: Education, City Council District / Community Events, or Youth or Senior Activities.
This ordinance awards a grant to the Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner in an amount not to exceed $12,000. This annual event is held at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center; the Dinner currently serves over 25,000 residents in our community and has more than 4,000 volunteers who work to the make this event possible. They also deliver meals to hundreds of homebound seniors and disabled residents. This request serves as a reimbursement for costs incurred at the event that occurred on Thursday, November 26, 2015.
ISSUE:
Grants for a single project or event over $10,000 require City Council approval. This ordinance awards a grant allocation to the Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner in an amount not to exceed $12,000.
ALTERNATIVES:
City Council could choose not to approve these CCPF allocations.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This ordinance awards a grant allocation to benefit the Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner in an amount not to exceed $12,000. This is funded through the General Fund Adopted Budget for City Council Project Funds. Contributions to the grant were made by the following City Council Districts:
