Public Art Committee Report

The following items were reviewed and discussed by the SAAC Public Art Committee:

 

§                     DCCD Staff Introduction

Action Type: None, Briefing only

Staffing updates including Felix Padrón’s retirement and introducing the new Interim Director, Debbie Racca-Sittre and the new Interim Contract Administrator, Diana Hidalgo.

§                     Elmendorf Lake

Action Type: Concept Design Approval

The approval of the Elmendorf Lake Concept Design with consideration of the comments and feedback given by the committee on size, color, materials used.

The following items were reviewed and discussed by the SAAC Public Art Committee:

 

§                     Sculpture Trail

Action Type: Concept Design Approval

Artist: Various Artists

The Committee approved the Sculpture Trail Concept Design that was brought forth by Mr. Jack Guenther of the Briscoe Western Art Museum for a trail that use existing public art inventory and create new works that would be displayed on a trail from the Alamo to the Briscoe Western Art Museum.  A Final Design will be presented at a later date to the Public Art Committee and then to the full Arts Commission.

§                     Mud Creek

Action Type: Artist Selection

Artist: Leticia Huerta

The Committee approved the Mud Creek Artist Selection of panel recommended artist, Leticia Huerta and the Artist Selection will be presented to the full Arts Commission at the May 17th meeting.
