Turnkey Installation of Power Generator for SAT
SUMMARY:
An Ordinance accepting the offer from Holt Texas, LTD. to supply and install one new Caterpillar C15 Generator Set at the San Antonio International Airport Terminal A to replace an existing generator that was installed in 1982. Authorization for this Aviation Department initiative is requested in the amount of $129,950.00. Funding will be available from FY2016 Aviation Operation and Maintenance Fund.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The San Antonio Airport Terminal A has an existing emergency backup generator that keeps critical lighting and power circuits & life safety systems in operation during power interruptions. The existing generator was installed in 1982. Recently, the engine controller failed and had to be replaced with aftermarket parts because neither new nor reconditioned OEM parts were available. Based on subsequent tests, it was determined that the generator is no longer reliable. For this reason, facilities staff at Aviation determined a new replacement generator is needed.
The City issued a Request for Offer to supply and install a Caterpillar Model C15 generator including weatherproof enclosure, accessories and a 5 year manufacturer warranty referencing BuyBoard Cooperative Agreement Contract #424-13 with Holt Texas, LTD. Holt Texas, LTD. provided an offer in the amount of $129,950.00, which is consistent with the BuyBoard pricing for the new generator.
ISSUE:
The existing generator has reached the end of its useful life and replacement of this critical equipment is necessary. The award of this contract will allow for the replacement of the existing generator that was installed at Terminal A in 1982.
