Purchase of Classroom Water Fountains for South Center
SUMMARY:
This item requests Board approval of a Job Order Contract with Con-Cor Inc. in an amount not to exceed $67,000 for the installation of 25 classroom water fountains at the South Education Center to be funded by remaining Board approved capital project funds.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
On March 3, 2015, the Pre-K 4 SA Board of Directors approved allocating the remaining $2.6 million from the initial Center construction to be utilized for additional Center capital improvements.
All 25 classrooms at the South Education Center and 17 classrooms from the initial construction of the North Education Center do not have classroom water fountains and utilize pitchers and paper cups to provide drinking water to its students. Classroom water fountains were included in the construction of the East Education Center, West Education Center, and North Education Center expansion of 13 additional classrooms. In an effort for Pre-K 4 SA to provide all classrooms with the same amenities, Pre-K 4 SA has contracted with Con-Cor Inc. to install water fountains in 17 classrooms at the North Education Center and 25 classrooms at the South Education Center. The price of the 17 North Center classroom water fountains is $46,000 and will not need board approval. Con-Cor Inc. is a City Council approved JOC contract and therefore can accept construction projects for the City up to $2 million annually.
ISSUE:
This item authorizes a Job Order Contract with Con-Cor Inc. in an amount not to exceed $67,000 for the installation of 25 classroom water fountains at the South Education Center to be funded by remaining Board approved capital project funds.
