SUMMARY:

This item authorizes an architectural services agreement in the amount of $125,960 to Debra J. Dockery Architect, P.C. for architectural, engineering, permitting, and design services for the additional playground and parking lot area at the West Education Center.


BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

On April 5, 2016 the Pre-K 4 SA Board of Directors approved a five-year no cost lease agreement between Pre-K 4 SA and the City of San Antonio. The lease terms began upon City Council approval on April 7, 2016 and will end June 30, 2021 for a 4.476 acre parcel of land located at 1243 Enrique M. Barrera Parkway to be utilized for additional playground area and staff parking for the Pre-K 4 SA West Education Center. Following the approved lease agreement, staff began meeting with the City's Transportation Capital Improvement (TCI) Department to start the playground and parking lot development phase.

ISSUE:

This item authorizes an architectural services agreement in the amount of $125,960 to Debra J. Dockery Architect, P.C. for architectural, engineering, permitting, and design services for the additional playground and parking lot area at the West Education Center.

The design will include an additional 3,000 to 5,000 square feet of playground area to be developed on the current West Education Center property. The design also includes 50 additional staff parking spaces to be located on the adjacent 4.476 acre parcel leased property as well as coordination with permitting during the construction phase.
