San Antonio Infrastructure Plan Tool


SUMMARY:

Presentation and demo of SA ConnectTM infrastructure tool.


BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The SA Connect tool was an outcome from a request from former San Antonio Chamber of Commerce Chairman, Henry Cisneros, to lead an effort in collaboration with Chamber to aggregate comprehensive San Antonio infrastructure plans from various city departments, utilities, and agencies in one place. The tool will be published online, and will be used by community stakeholders recruiting industry to San Antonio and informing citizens of infrastructure plans. The tool is designed to complement SA Tomorrow initiative.

Doyle Beneby, former CPS Energy CEO was named SA Chamber Infrastructure Committee Chairman in early 2015, and he tasked an internal team of CPS Energy employees to design, build and publish this tool.



ISSUE:

Historically and currently, infrastructure data gathering for economic development, business recruitment, retention or relocations has been a labor intensive effort, performed on an as needed basis. Infrastructure entities such as CPS Energy, SAWS, VIA, and others allocate resources to independently pull infrastructure data and plans for their respective entities, then have them collated for presentation.

The issue of labor intensity and the use of the data presented serving a specific prospect offers a relative low return on investment.


ALTERNATIVES:

The alternative is to implement the SA Connect tool as a means to enable:
* Accelerate the collation of virtual infrastructure plans and data based on specific prospect parameters in a matter of minutes; reducing manual labor
* Identify potential qualified results throughout San Antonio (not just one or two)
* Global outreach - San Antonio infrastructure available globally - exponentially attracting prospects beyond our current reach
