Briefing and Discussion on the 2016 Mayor's Housing Summit

SUMMARY:

This item will include a staff briefing and facilitated discussion on the status of the planning for the 2016 Mayor's Housing Summit.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The Mayor's Task Force on Preserving Dynamic & Diverse Neighborhoods recommended in its May 14, 2015 report that an annual housing summit be held to "establish a unified housing policy and to support current housing planning and community development efforts to create safe, stable, mixed-income neighborhoods throughout the City."

The 2015 San Antonio Housing Policy Summit was hosted by Mayor Ivy Taylor on May 15, 2015. The program included a charge from the Mayor to create comprehensive policies that support development and preservation of stable, mixed-income communities. The Housing Commission to Protect & Preserve Dynamic & Diverse Neighborhoods has included in its FY 2016 Work Plan to assist in developing the annual housing summit.
