Purchase of 4X4 Utility Tractors



SUMMARY:

This ordinance authorizes a contract with Ewald Kubota to provide the Solid Waste Management Department with two 4x4 utility tractors for a total cost of $104,512.80. Funding for this purchase is available from the Equipment Renewal and Replacement Fund.



BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Submitted for City Council consideration and action is the attached offer from Ewald Kubota utilizing the BuyBoard Cooperative contract number 424-13 to provide the Solid Waste Management Department with two 4x4 utility tractors for a total cost of $104,512.80. These tractors were previously bid and Ewald Kubota submitted the low bid. However, utilizing BuyBoard Cooperative contract pricing results in a savings of $12,463.84 for this purchase when compared to previous bid pricing submitted by Ewald Kubota. There were no bids received from local dealers in the previously submitted bid.

This purchase will provide two replacement 4X4 utility tractors for the Solid Waste Management Department for a total cost of $104,512.80. This equipment will be used to pull water tank trailers for dust control at the City of San Antonio brush sites and landfills.




ISSUE:

This contract will provide two replacement 4x4 tractors to meet the needs of the Solid Waste Management Department. These are replacement units to the City's fleet.

These units will be purchased from Ewald Kubota utilizing the Texas BuyBoard contract number 424-13 and will be made in accordance with the Texas Local Government Purchasing Cooperative passed on Ordinance Number 97097 dated January 30, 2003.

The Texas BuyBoard Cooperative is administered by the Texas Municipal League. All products and services that are part of this cooperative have been competitively bid and awarded by the Cooperative's Board of Trustees based on Texas Statues.
