City Council Project Fund Allocation
SUMMARY:
This ordinance awards a grant allocation through the City Council Project Funds Program City Council District 6, in an amount not to exceed $11,974.21, to the District 6 Fitness 5K. This event encourages families to be active together and live a healthier lifestyle.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Funds are for the District 6 Fitness 5K, a culmination of a city-led initiative to expand children's' fitness efforts to the entire family through a free, 12-week summer family fitness program that encourages families to be active together and live a healthier lifestyle. San Antonio Sports and District 6 hosted the event on August 13th, with nearly 1,300 family members participating in the free 5K run, veteran's walk, and health fair. Funds will support reimbursement of costs needed to implement the event, such as race management services, medical services that were on site, participant medals, security, sound system, and event stage. This amount of $11,974.21 is the final total allocation needed to cover expenses for the Fitness 5K.
ISSUE:
The City Council Project Fund was created in 2012 to support programs and activities that benefit education, community events or youth and senior activities. The Ordinance governing the use of CCPF requires that project awards that exceed $10,000 receive City Council Approval.
This ordinance awards a grant allocation to the District 6 Fitness 5K in an amount not to exceed $11,974.21.
ALTERNATIVES:
City Council could decide not to approve these CCPF allocations.
