Fire Station Furniture
SUMMARY:
This ordinance authorizes acceptance of contract with Dreamseats, LLC to provide fire station furniture for various fire facilities for a total cost of $99,049.14 for the San Antonio Fire Department. Funding is available from the FY 2017 Fire Department General Fund Budget.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Submitted for City Council consideration and action is the attached tabulation of one competitive bid for fire station furniture for a total cost of $99,049.14.
The dayroom furniture purchase will be from Dreamseats, LLC dayroom furniture with interchangeable custom stitched SAFD logo panels consisting of a combination of 5 loveseats, 22 sofas and 75 recliners. The dayroom furniture will replace existing furniture at 24 various fire stations.
The furniture will be covered by a limited lifetime warranty with an estimated 10 year life expectancy.
ISSUE:
This contract is within the scope of the Small Business Economic Development Advocacy (SBEDA) Program. However, due to the type of commodities/services being procured and value of the contract, no SBEDA tool is available.
There were no bids submitted from local bidders for this contract; therefore, the Local Preference Program was not applied.
The Veteran-Owned Business Program does not apply to good/supplies contracts, so no preference was applied to this contract.
ALTERNATIVES:
Should this contract not be approved, the San Antonio Fire Department will continue to use existing furniture that has reached the end of its useful life and for which repairs are not cost effective.
