SUBJECT:

Sports License Agreement with South Central Cougars Pop Warner Football Association

SUMMARY:

This ordinance authorizes the execution of a Sports License Agreement with South Central Cougars Pop Warner Football Association for continued operation, maintenance and use of sports fields located at Stinson Park in Council District 3 for a five year term beginning November 1, 2016, and ending October 31, 2021; no City funds are associated with this action.


BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

South Central Cougars Pop Warner Football Association (SCC) has been a licensee of sports fields located at Stinson Park since 1998 and the league provides organized youth sports activities to over 200 area youth each year. SCC's current license agreement is expiring and the five-year term of the new License Agreement will commence on November 1, 2016, and expire on October 31, 2021.

Under the terms of the new License Agreement, SCC will continue to have priority use of the fields located on 8.16 acres and will be permitted to operate concessions with proceeds benefiting the program. In lieu of rental fees, SCC will operate and continue to maintain the licensed premises and they will bear financial responsibility for any improvements during the term of this License Agreement.


ISSUE:

This ordinance authorizes the execution of a Sports License Agreement with South Central Cougars Pop Warner Football Association for the continued operation, maintenance and use of 8.16 acres at Stinson Park for a five year term beginning November 1, 2016, and ending October 31, 2021. This action is consistent with other Sports License Agreements.


ALTERNATIVES:
