Disposition: Closure of a sliver portion of Newell Avenue Public Right of Way abutting 226 Newell Avenue


SUMMARY:

A resolution closing, vacating and abandoning 0.007 of an acre of Newell Avenue Public Right of Way, abutting 226 Newell Avenue, in Council District 1, as requested by Broadway SA Investors GP, LLC, for a fee of $7,545.00.


BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Broadway SA Investors, Petitioner, is requesting the closure, vacation and abandonment of an improved 0.007 acre portion (314 square feet) of Newell Avenue Public Right of Way as shown on attached Exhibit A. The Petitioner would like to square up his property line and create a consistent frontage abutting their property at 226 Newell Avenue, to facilitate future development.


ISSUE:

This resolution will close, vacate and abandon 0.007 of an acre of Newell Avenue Public Right of Way, abutting 226 Newell Avenue, in Council District 1, as requested by Broadway SA Investors GP, LLC, for a fee of $7,545.00.

Broadway SA Investors, Petitioner, is requesting the closure, vacation and abandonment of an improved 0.007 acre portion (314 square feet) of Newell Avenue Public Right of Way as shown on attached Exhibit A. The Petitioner would like to square up his property line and create a consistent frontage abutting their property at 226 Newell Avenue, to facilitate future development.

This action is consistent with City Code and Ordinances, which require Planning Commission/City Council approval for the sale or disposition of City-owned or controlled real property.


ALTERNATIVES:

Planning Commission could choose not to approve this request; however, doing so would continue the City's obligation for maintenance.


FISCAL IMPACT:

The property value was assessed at $7,545.00, utilizing Bexar Appraisal District assessed land values as provided by Chapter 37, Section 2(g)(2...
