COUNCIL DISTRICTS IMPACTED: Council District 2

SUBJECT:

Disposition of 331 N. Olive Street

SUMMARY:

An ordinance declaring 331 N. Olive Street as surplus to the City's needs and authorizing its sale, located in Council District 2.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Staff has identified one property in Council Districts 2 as surplus to the City of San Antonio's needs and is located at 331 N. Olive as shown on Exhibit "A." Under Municipal Code, all City property must be declared as surplus prior to the disposition of the property. All City departments and utility agencies have been canvassed and it has been determined that the property can be disposed in accordance with Chapter 272 and 253 of the Local Government Code and Chapters 34 and 311 of the Tax Code.

The property located at 331 N. Olive was acquired along with other eight other properties as part of the Carver Cultural Center Acquisition Project in 2014 in conjunction with the 2012-2017 Bond Project. Of the nine acquired properties, 331 N. Olive was the only property that was unable to be used due to the house located on the property being deemed historic.

Approval of this request would allow the sale of this property to be placed on the tax rolls and generate revenue for the taxing entities. Additionally, the City of San Antonio would discontinue the maintenance of the property upon final conveyance.

ISSUE:

This ordinance declares 331 N. Olive Street as surplus to the City's needs and authorizes its sale, located in Council District 2.
