SUBJECT: Pre-Solicitation Briefing for Digital Community Kiosks
DATE: March 28, 2017
The Office of Innovation will present a pre-solicitation briefing on the Digital Community Kiosks, which is part of San Antonio’s Smart City Program that was approved in the FY 2017 Budget. This briefing will allow an opportunity for input and direction from Committee members.
This pre-solicitation briefing will cover estimated contract value, projected timeline, high profile designation, scope of the project, terms of the contract, audited financial statements, proposed scoring criteria, evaluation committee members, project considerations, local preference program applicability, veteran owned small business preference program applicability and SBEDA Program requirements.
As part of the FY 2017 Budget, City Council approved nine smart city projects. The Digital Community Kiosks was one of those projects. This project will purchase and install 25 digital community kiosks throughout downtown and potentially at the missions and the airport. The purpose of the kiosks is to provide information to residents and tourists. They also serve as WiFi hotspots. The content management of the kiosks as well as the regular maintenance is paid for through advertisements on the kiosks. The kiosks also serve as a revenue generating opportunity, with the City sharing in a portion of the revenue gained through advertisements. There is also the potential to add sensors for collecting data on usage, pedestrian traffic and air quality.
