Informational briefing and update regarding High Speed Passenger Rail between Houston and Dallas by Texas Central.
SUMMARY:
Texas Central High-Speed Railway (TCR) will be providing an informational briefing and update regarding the status of their High Speed Passenger Rail between Houston and Dallas.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Texas Central High-Speed Railway (TCR), a private Texas-based entity, plans to build a passenger rail transportation system between Houston and Dallas using Japanese high-speed rail (HSR) technology.
Nearly 50,000 Texans travel back and forth between Houston and Dallas/Fort Worth more than once a week while many others make the trip regularly. The proposed 240-mile high-speed rail line will offer a total travel time of less than 90 minutes with convenient departures every 30 minutes during peak periods each day and every hour during off-peak periods. Six hours are reserved each night for system maintenance and inspection.
The purpose of the privately proposed Project is to provide reliable, safe, and economically viable passenger rail transportation using proven high-speed rail technology between Houston and Dallas as a convenient alternative to automobile travel on IH-45 or air travel between the two major metropolitan areas.
